or maybe he's not catching the ball at all in this picture, maybe he's closely inspecting the stitching, or maybe the ball is just coming in so fast that it's about to take his head off... Whatever the case is, I'm glad he's back and looking healthy.

Picture of the Week: Kevin Smith gets his head shot off
That's right! Training camp is underway and Kevin Smith is back on the practice field as he and Jahvin Best battle out the running back position. One thing people like about Jahvid Best more than they like about Kevin Smith is Best's ability to catch the ball and make big plays after the catch. Well, it looks like Kevin Smith has been doing just fine catching the ball:

Number of the Week: 40
The amount of dollars, (in millions) that Ndamukong Suh will be payed by the Detroit Lions in the next 5 years. He could make as much as $68 million, but that all depends on who he turns out to be. $40 million guaranteed is $10 million less than 1st overall pick Sam Bradford got. Interestingly enough, if you divide 40 by 10 you get 4 which equals: the number of days Ndamukong held out for to get this contract done. Some resented him for it, some understood that he wasn't the only one to blame. But either way, we're happy he's finally in camp and getting to work.

Tuesday Bonus: Ndamukong the Hunter
Nike Pro-Combat-Hyper-Strong . . .
That's one long name for a glorified pair of compression shorts.
But I'm not gonna lie, that commercial makes me want to buy them!
Picture of the Week: Tim Toone Shares the Wealth

That "Cult Hero" battle between Tim Toone and Zack Follett might heat up with some more pictures like this.

Number of the Week: 11
Matthew Stafford's spot on Sports Illustrated Fortunate 50 list. Pretty insane for a 2nd year Quarterback. Speaking of 2nd, the pick of Jahvid Best was voted the 2nd best offseason move by Lions fans at DetroitLions.com. #1 is still to be announced, but we all know it's gonna be the pick of Mr. Suh. Did you know that Ndamukong Suh had 12 sacks in 2009 as a Husker. If he were to get 12 sacks in 2010 as a Lion, that would be 1/3 of the Lions sack total from 2009. Multiply 3 by 7 and you get 21. Did you know that Darrius Heyward Bay is making more than $21,000,000 he's #28 on Sports Illustrated's Fortunate 50. #28... hmmm... Maurice Morris is #28. Maurice Morris' longest play when playing against the Seahawks (his former team) on 11/08 was an 11 yard reception. Weren't we just talking about 11?

Picture of the Week: Zack Follett's "Camp Elevation"
When Tim Toone was drafted, Jim Shwartz said that Zack Follett had a competition for favorite "cult hero." But man, Tim Toone had better start making some crazy videos before he can compete with Follett. This picture is a freeze frame from Follett's,
You gotta love the guy.

Number of the Week: 6
The percent of votes Zack Follett received from Lions fans when the question, "Which 2009 draft pick will have the best 2010 season?" was asked. 6% percent is exactly where fellow linebacker DeAndre Levy stands. If you divide 6 by 2 you get the percent of voters who believed Brandon Pettigrew would be the best 2009 draft pick in the 2010 season. Interesting enough, because Brandon Pettigrew was selected 215 picks before Zack Follett in the 2009 draft. Divide 215 by 5, Drew Stanton's number; a guy who dropped back since the signing of Shaun Hill, and you get 43. No one on the Lions wears number 43, but flip the numbers and you get 34; the number worn by Kevin Smith. Speaking of Kevin Smith, did you know that he scored 8 touchdowns in 2008 and 4 touchdowns in 2009? That averages down to 6 touchdowns per season, our number this week! What a coincidence!
